Harrogate Town have gone top of the Vanarama National League North table.

That’s following last night’s 2-1 victory at Curzon Ashton – their third win on the bounce.

Saturday’s hero Dominic Knowles fired Town ahead with a 20-yard blast on the half-hour mark.

His goal was cancelled out within minutes as Simon Lakeland’s corner somehow went straight into the net.

The winner arrived early in the second half with Luke Shiels getting it with a bullet header.

Curzon finished the game with ten men as captain Alex Brown was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.

Harrogate Town manager Simon Weaver:

“I think we were in control and should have put it to bed a lot earlier.

“There’s always that slight concern with the one goal lead, but I felt we dominated the second half.”

Harrogate Town: Crook, Turner, McWilliams, Thirlwell (captain), Shiels, Ellis, Colbeck (Emmett 65), Nyoni, Clayton, Knowles, Daniels (Thewlis 88). Subs unused: Kerry, Swain, Bloomer.
