Ash Flynn scored twice for AFC Emley against Hall Road Rangers

Ash Flynn is back in the headlines for the right reasons after taking his tally to ten goals in four games during AFC Emley’s straightforward 4-1 victory over Hall Road Rangers.

For the second game running at the Welfare Ground, Emley never looked like losing and Flynn played the starring role – three days on from his four-goal salvo against Parkgate in the FA Cup.

The Toolstation NCEL Division One promotion hopefuls were well in control from the start against a Hall Road side that tried hard, but were far from good enough on the night.

Emley’s attack ran rings round the Hull-based side’s defence and arguably should have scored seven or eight times.

The warning signs for Hall Road were sounding early on as goalkeeper Jordan Douglas made a couple of good saves.

However, he couldn’t prevent Flynn’s turn and powerful strike on 24 minutes which steered Emley on course for their first league victory of the new campaign.

Jordan Coduri, who played a key role against Parkgate, soon set up Max Leonard for a tap-in to convert goal number two.

Emley soon wrapped up the three points. Hall Road were caught on the counter attack from their own free kick and Flynn responded by timing a run perfectly – enabling himself to slide the ball to the left of the on-rushing Douglas from the edge of the box.

Flynn had numerous chances to score his second hat-trick in four days, but each one either went wide, over or straight at Douglas.

Some of Flynn’s team-mates also had opportunities to write a few more goals onto the score-sheet.

The only disappointment for Emley was Daniel Clancy’s goal in the final ten minutes for Hall Road which denied them a clean sheet.

The three-goal advantage was restored during injury-time as Kieron Ryan scored a penalty – won when Steven Kenworthy was fouled.
