Stocksbridge Park Steels’ perfect start to the Evo Stik Division One South season continued as Chris Hilton’s men won 2-1 at Goole AFC.
Building on Saturday’s opening day victory over Market Drayton Town, Stocksbridge were the better side against Goole.
Rory Coleman fired Stocksbridge ahead in the 12th minute with a free kick that took a slight deflection.
The Steels could have increased their lead in the first half as both Lee Garside and Adam Hinchliffe fired shots over the crossbar.
The second goal did eventually come 11 minutes after the interval and Hinchliffe was the scorer with a strike that Goole goalkeeper Ryan Musselwhite should have done better with.
Jake Lever almost added a third Stocksbridge goal before ex-Steels left-back Liam Schofield scored a penalty in the dying seconds for Goole.
