Ossett Albion were hanging on at the end of their 1-1 draw with Burscough at Dimple Wells in the Evo Stik Division One North.
The first 20 minutes were played at a frantic pace considering the hot and humid conditions. Albion’s defence were under pressure from the long kicks by Burscough goalkeeper Calvin Hare.
In the 31st minute Albion put together their first real string of passes and Connor Brunt was on hand to finish the move by tapping the ball into the net to give the home side the lead. Albion then looked more assured but it was Burscough who hit the Albion post from a hard low cross into the area,
The second half belonged to Burscough after they had made two substitutions at the interval. They played with speed and width and Albion were unable to hold onto the ball. As fast as they cleared it the ball came back at them.
Brett Souter, in the Albion goal, had made a couple of saves but in the 72nd minute he was unable to prevent the equaliser from Liam Caddick.
Albion were hanging on for a point as Burscough pushed forward for the winner until the referee’s final whistle rescued Richard Tracey’s men.
