Joint manager Jason Dodsworth is stepping down at Athersley Recreation at the end of the season.

Dodsworth was only promoted to the top position, along with Sean Margison back in May.

Despite being only five games into his tenure, Dodsworth has decided the time is right to signal his intentions.

He said: “Unfortunately I’ve decided to step down from my role at the club due to family reasons. I’ve got two young kids and I feel the time has come to spend more time as a family.

“I’ve given 10 years of my life to Athersley Rec and met some fantastic people on this journey. I couldn’t have dreamt how far we would have come as a team when porky asked me to help him all those years ago.

“From playing on a field at Carlton Park to playing at San Sheerien really shows you how much time and effort has gone into the club and Pete Goodlad has done something special with it.

“The silverware we’ve won and has been unreal and the players we’ve had along the way have become close friends to me and I would like to thank them all for making the last ten years successful and enjoyable as its been.

“This club just grabs you and don’t let go its that special and although I won’t be managing the side anymore I will still be in and around the club helping Margi until the end of the season.

“I would just like to thank all the volunteers and fans for there hard work and great support over the years and long may it continue.”

“The club is full of great people and I know it will continue to go forward. Never thought I would do this but time goes too quick and I need to spend more with my family has my commitment would be limited i feel this is the best decision.”
