Mick Godber believes the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division is more difficult than last season.
The Handsworth Parramore assistant manager agrees that it is too early to start predicting who will finish in the top five.
He does though have the belief that there are no gimmes in the Division.
“I think the league will be as tight as last year being honest,” Godber told Non League Yorkshire.
“It is hard to say and nobody can totally judge yet.
“By the end of September you’ll probably know, but you’d still expect you’re Worksops, Cleethorpes, Tadcasters and Bartons.
“I said this the other day and I’ll say it again, I think the league will be stronger this year and the so-called weaker teams will be stronger.
“I think the third relegation spot is a reason and I also think players have had enough of travelling.
“Maltby have kicked on from last season, Parkgate have. I don’t think there will be an easy six points from a team this year.
“Look at Saturday, we won 5-0, but for an hour it was a competitive game.”
Handsworth are travelling to Bridlington Town this evening for their Premier Division encounter.
Parramore are yet to concede a goal and at the other, Peter Duffield’s men have put three past Pickering, six past Staveley and five against Nostell in their most recent match.
However, Godber claims that there is still more to come from Parramore.
“I don’t think anyone will be firing on all cylinders yet until ten games in,” he added.
“We have scored a lot of goals, but we have strikers to do that. We actually have two strikers who have not kicked a ball yet in Nathan Joynes and Bruno Holden.
“Joynesy has been on holiday and Bruno is now back from suspension.
“Every team will be in the same boat because people go away and it will be mid-September before everyone will be up to full strength.”
