Pontefract Collieries have two new players in their armoury ahead of their bid to claim their first Toolstation NCEL Premier Division points of the season tomorrow night.
Old adversaries Athersley Rec are the visitors to Beechnut Lane and Pontefract now have Jack Mawson and Brad Riley in their squad after the pair signed forms last night.
Midfielder Riley is being welcomed back with open arms having impressed during an appearance for Pontefract in the 3-1 victory over Rossington Main last September.
He had been lent to Ponte by Frickley, but Blues boss Karl Rose chose to recall him straight back.
Striker Mawson was on trial at Shaw Lane Aquaforce during the summer following his release from Scunthorpe United.
His arrival ensures a reunion with Pontefract joint manager Nick Handley, who coached him at Barnsley’s academy for five years.
Handley said: “I rate him very highly indeed. He will be an unknown in the Non League system but he should take it by storm.”
Pontefract have lost both of their first two games back in the Premier Division.
