Ossett Albion are currently the only Yorkshire Evo Stik Division One North side guaranteed a place in the next round of the Emirates FA Cup.
Albion eased to a comfortable 3-0 victory over North West Counties outfit Maine Road in their Preliminary Round tie.
Albion started positively and took the lead in the 22nd minute. A corner taken by Rob Bordman was hit to the back-post where Danny South chested the ball into the net to give the home side the lead.
Less than five minutes later another Albion corner taken again by Bordman went low to the near post where Nicky Matthews was waiting with his back towards goal. He flicked the ball up, turned and crashed his shot high into the far corner.
With a two-goal lead Albion seemed to ease off a little and Maine Road came back into the game leading up to the interval.
Close to the hour mark Connor Bower had two really good chances to add to Albion’s tally but was unable to finish.
It was left to Bordman to supply the corner for Albion’s third. This time the ball went to the far post and South rose above the defenders send in a header which gave the goalkeeper no chance,
To give Maine Road credit they never gave up and continued to run at Albion, but the home side were in control and had chances to add further goals.
