Brighouse Town safely navigated their way into the Emirates FA Cup first qualifying round with the 2-1 victory at Atherton Collieries in the replay.
Ryan Hall’s second half strike was the difference for the Evo Stik Division One North outfit.
A 1-1 draw on Saturday took the game over to Lancashire for the Bank Holiday Monday replay and Brighouse were able to make a positive start.
In the 22nd minute, veteran Martin Allison played a quick free kick and Ernest Boafo caught Atherton cold and went past their goalkeeper before scoring.
After a good spell, the hosts hit back through Ben Hardcastle.
Brighouse scored the winner straight after the interval. Youngster Will Tolley was the provider of the pass that enabled Hall to score a repeat of Boafo’s strike.
Brighouse held on and will entertain Newton Aycliffe in two weeks.
