Farsley Celtic picked up their first win of the season and progressed into the Emirates FA Cup first qualifying round by beating Stocksbridge Park Steels 3-0 at Throstle Nest.

Aiden Savory got two of Farsley’s goals in the replay which was forced after the 1-1 stalemate on Saturday.

The Evo Stik Division One South leaders were left to rue their missed chances in both halves. Former Nostell striker Danny Critchlow went close and so did full-back Rory Coleman in the opening half.

Farsley had goalkeeper Tom Taylor to thank at the start of the second half after saves from Harrison Biggins and Critchlow.

Farsley heeded the succession of warning by stunning the visitors with the opener. Savory launched a speculative effort from distance and he was wheeling away in celebration when goalkeeper Sam Andrew made a mess of it.

One goal soon became two as midfielder Neil Stevens set Savory up for a low drive into the bottom corner.

Kyle Harrison rounded off Farsley’s victory in the final few minutes with a long range thunderbolt.
