Ryan Hindley is not getting over-excited over Hallam’s fantastic start to the Toolstation NCEL Division One season.

Hallam are riding high in second place after six games following the 4-2 victory at Glasshoughton Welfare in midweek.

With a trip to Teversal looming tomorrow, unbeaten Hallam are also joint top with Hull United.

Hindley told Non League Yorkshire: “That was our sixth league game (Glasshoughton) and we’ve had four away and we have taken ten points from them.

“We’ve had two home games and taken six points from them. How would I sum it?

“I couldn’t have asked for anything better. To equalise at Penistone in the last minute with nine men shows what it means for the boys.

“I think winning is a habit and we have got that. But, listen, we have some tough games coming up and we’re under no-illusions that things are going to be tough.

“We go to Teversal who have improved massively and it will be a physical test.”

Every player except the goalkeeper Jack Dennison celebrated each goal at Glasshoughton which showed an excellent team-spirit.

Hindley believes his side has it and said: “I’m a big believer in togetherness.

“We had no game on Saturday so we had a bit of day and night out which helps.

“Sometimes you don’t want to have a break, but sometimes it does you good to recuperate.

“There is a good togetherness there. You spend a lot of time together because you’re playing Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday so you need to get to know each other.”

The win was moulded out of three goals in 50 minutes. Glasshoughton did briefly come back into the game, but departing winger Callum Greaves, who has signed for Chesterfield, sealed the victory.

Looking back at the victory, Hindley added: “Maybe in the first ten or 15 minutes we were a little bit ragged.

“Then as I said at the beginning of the season, I thought our final third play was excellent.

“I thought my front four plus my two in the midfield looked excellent.

“I’m delighted with how we defended in the first half because I thought we looked solid.

“I thought every-time we went forward we looked dangerous. We have good quality in the side and players who have played together for a long time.”
