A 2-0 victory over Mossley guided Harrogate Railway to a second consecutive Evo Stik Division One North win last night at Station View.

Railway took advantage of patched-up Mossley’s poor start and Ryan Sharrocks and Steve Bromley’s early start earned Railway the three points.

Concluding a busy schedule of two matches in three days, Railway picked up where they left off in the 4-1 success over Radcliffe Borough on Saturday.

Young Sharrocks was Mossley’s nemesis. The winger, playing as a striker, caused endless problems for the visitors and he got the goal that broke the deadlock.

Mossley only had themselves to blame for allowing him to bulldoze his way through into the penalty area and then get a low shot off – an effort that goalkeeper Liam Flynn watched as it went under his legs.

That was after just ten minutes. More glory was to come Railway within another 120 seconds – Sharrocks again involved.

His superbly weighted cross from the right was something out of a David Beckham textbook. All it needed was a player in the box and Bromley was there to power the ball home with his head.

If there was any disappointment for Railway it was probably that they were unable to add to their tally – although that was not for the want of trying.

Jack Stockdill hit the post with a long range thunderbolt and Sharrocks also had a couple of efforts blocked.

Defensively Harrogate did well and the first league clean sheet of the season will please manager Lee Ashforth as his side look to move further up the table.
