Liversedge striker Andy Wood’s early red card was the turning point as Tadcaster Albion romped back to winning ways with a 4-0 victory.
Jimmy Beadle got things started for Tadcaster in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division clash with a low drive from the edge of the area and this was followed by Dan Clayton heading in his first goal for the club.
George Conway got on the score sheet in the second half with a delicate lob and Adam Baker netted the fourth with a confident finish to ensure that the Brewers remain in touching distance of league leaders Worksop Town.
Albion boss Billy Miller, returning to Liversedge in a competitive match for the first time since leaving as manager in 2012, made two changes to the draw at Armthorpe Welfare as Adam Baker and Josh Barrett came in for Josh Greening and the suspended Jordan Armstrong.
Both teams started the match positively but it was Baker in the yellow of Tadcaster who had the first chance of the afternoon with a blast from 20 yards which was tipped over by Liam Scott-Bell in the Sedge goal.
Twelve minutes in and the match took a huge twist as Wood was shown a straight red card for Liversedge after a wild lunge on Tad centre-half Andy Milne. The referee appeared to have made his mind up immediately as he sprinted towards the altercation and pulled out the red card from his rear pocket.
This was to make things incredibly difficult for the home side as expected and it was down to Tadcaster now to go and win the match with the man advantage.
It didn’t take long for Taddy to break the deadlock after the red card as Beadle opened the scoring half-way through the first half. It should have been in the back of the net long before it was as firstly play was shifted along to Clayton who was put through one-on-one but his shot was stopped, Clayton then retrieved the ball and dinked in to Conway who struck it first-time on the volley which again was saved but eventually Beadle stroked it home from the edge of the penalty area to give the Brewers the perfect platform to build upon.
It was completely one-way traffic as expected with a man difference and shortly after it was 2-0 to Taddy. Baker well and truly thundered past the Sedge full-back and chipped in perfectly to Clayton who powered home his first goal for the club with a header.
Into the second half and the contest was over already and everyone in the ground knew it however five minutes into the half Sedge’s Kieran Corley pulled a shot just wide of the mark.
Just past the hour mark and Tad had their third as Conway was sent clean through and he just guided the bouncing ball over the goalkeeper to perfectly nestle into the back of the net.
It was pretty much attack vs defence for the majority of the second half however the home side did continue to commit men forward and credit to Sedge for that but it was 4-0 to the Brewers just five minutes later as Baker was played through this time and he never looked like missing as he curled the ball past the goalkeeper.
