Bray stands down at Pontefract

Duncan Bray has decided to stand down as joint manager of Pontefract

Promotion-winning joint boss Duncan Bray has decided to stand down as joint manager of Pontefract

Work commitments have forced Duncan Bray to stand down as joint manager of Pontefract Collieries.

His exit was confirmed 24 hours after Pontefract returned to winning ways in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division with the 1-0 victory at Rainworth Miners Welfare.

Bray leaves a huge mark at the club for his part in leading Pontefract back to the Premier Division after 16 years away alongside fellow joint manager Nick Handley.

Handley and Bray had held the joint position since December 2012.

Pontefract’s statement said: “Dunc has a senior role in the NHS which has seen him spending most of his working week in London.

“That, coupled with the time demands of a young family, has resulted in Dunc finding it increasingly difficult to give time to running a football club and he has therefore taken the difficult decision to stand down from his Managers role.

“Ponte would like to place on record their utmost thanks and gratitude to Dunc for everything he has done for the Club both on and off the field. Everyone at the Club sends him their good wishes for the future.”

Handley and Russ Eagle remain in their roles.
