Ash Flynn’s incredible start to the Toolstation NCEL Division One season continued with another two goals in AFC Emley’s 5-0 victory at Teversal.

Flynn is now up to 19 goals in eleven games and puts him in a good position to repeat his 42 goal heroics from 2012-13.

Alex Hallam, Jordan Townend and Kieran Ryan were also amongst the scorers in a ruthless display from Emley.

It was exactly the response Darren Hepworth would have wanted after conceding five goals to Mansfield on Wednesday night. The clean sheet will certainly please Hepworth as much as the five goals did.

There was no indication that the result would be so emphatic in the early part of the game, neither goalkeeper was troubled and chances were few and far between.

Emley were edging it in the opening half an hour with Flynn looking lively making a lot of clever runs in behind. Emley’s best chance came after some nice build up on the right which saw Flynn win a corner from his resulting shot.

The breakthrough didn’t come until the 44th minute when Flynn was fouled just on the edge of the box with some players appealing for a penalty but the free kick was correctly awarded.Hallam stepped up and placed the ball into the bottom left hand corner to give Emley the lead.

Emley doubled their advantage just a minute later when Townend drilled a shot from 20 yards out into the roof of net seconds before the half time whistle.

The second half began as the first ended with Emley scoring once again. This time Flynn managed to scoop the ball round Teversal keeper Dale Sheppard and fire the ball into the empty net.

He got his second just nine minutes later after he made a clever run in behind and got on the end of a ball over the top and slotted it past the keeper to score his 19th of the campaign.

That wasn’t the end of the scoring as Emley put the icing on the cake in the 70th minute. Ryan got the goal his great performance deserved when his powerful drive from 20 yards out found the back of the net to put the gloss on an excellent all round performance from Emley.

Earlier Sam Scrivens had managed to wriggle his way past three Teversal defenders, as he burst from right back, but his deliciously curled effort went just wide of the post.

That didn’t stop him from bombing forward from right back again as he found himself in a shooting position this time his arrowed right footed shot went narrowly wide.

Flynn came close to getting his second successive hat-trick when Jordan Coduri’s cross was met by Ryan who teed up Flynn but his shot was saved and went behind for a corner.
