There was no fairytale Emirates FA Cup victory for Maltby Main as Frickley Athletic professionally won 2-0 at Muglet Lane.

First half goals from Royale Johnson and Jacob Hazel secured Frickley’s passage into the second qualifying round.

Karl Rose’s side are now unbeaten in seven matches in all competitions.

Easing any potential pressure, Frickley took the game to the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division side.

After a succession of chances, a Luke Jeffs cross was flicked on by Zeph Thomas and then diverted into the goal by Harrogate Town dual-registered player Johnson.

More chances followed and the lead was doubled on the half-hour mark. Johnson was the provider on this occasion for Hazel, whose long range attempt found the net.
