Handsworth Parramore completed an early season double as they followed up their recent 5-0 home victory over Nostell MW, with a hard fought 2-1 win on Saturday at the Crofton Community Centre.
The home side included only three starters from the line-up that featured at Sandy Lane three weeks ago, and were an altogether more difficult proposition.
The Ambers were on top for the majority of the first half and went in front thanks to a diving header on 31 minutes from top scorer Jon Froggatt with his ninth of the season. However, the home side roared back and were level within two minutes as Fidel Mhlolo finished off a good move with a cool finish.
This setback did not deter the visitors who regrouped and were rewarded with the winner on the stroke of half time after Kieran Wells finished smartly to claim his sixth of the campaign.
A much more even second half ensued with the home side increasing the pressure but it was only the form of keeper Sam Dobbs who kept them in with a fighting chance as he made two excellent double saves as The Ambers hit Nostell on the break.
Nostell Miners Welfare: Dobbs, Beaston, Allsop, Ball, Morris, B Kellett, Gordon, Poole, Billington, Whiteley, Mhlolo. Subs: L Kellett, Henderson, Lee, Johnson, Peacock.
