Richard Patterson dramatically stole all three points for Stocksbridge Park Steels with the 95th minute winner in the single goal win over Rugby Town at Bracken Moor.

Patterson was the hero for Stocksbridge after rising superbly to head home Harrison Biggins’ perfectly-weighted free kick.

The goal cued scenes of pandemonium and lifted the Steels up to second in the Evo Stik Division One South table.

The dramatic finish was harsh on Rugby and their new manager Dale Belford as the visitors arguably deserved a point from their trip to South Yorkshire.

Rugby created their fair share of chances and Steels goalkeeper David Reay was needed on more than one occasion to pull his team out of the fire.

Stocksbridge also hit Rugby’s crossbar from a strike by captain Lee Garside.
