Goalkeeper Brett Souter saved an injury-time penalty to ensure Ossett Albion beat Droylsden 1-0 at Dimple Wells.
The victory in the Evo Stik Division One North ensured that Albion got revenge for last week’s defeat to Droylsden in the Emirates FA Cup first qualifying round.
Popular midfielder Adam Jones made sure that Albion got off to the perfect start by rising the highest to head home from corner after just 12 minutes.
Albion could have doubled their lead on more than one occasion. Eddy Birch’s strike which hit the crossbar was the most notable chance.
Droylsden were handed the opportunity to equalise during stoppage time, but former Ossett Town winger Fernando Moke’s spot kick was saved by Souter.
Ossett Albion: Souter, Nicholson, Hardaker, Wright (captain), Riordan, South, Muller, Jones, Matthews, Birch, Bower (Bordman). Subs unused: Garrick, Thompson, Dawson.
Referee: Rob Atkin
Attendance: 118
