The incredible 2-2 draw with Retford United last week has given Pickering Town manager Paul Marshall a glimpse of what his team can achieve.

Pickering played with nine men for over 70 minutes and led twice which left Marshall hugely proud.

His side then went onto win 3-0 at Parkgate to move further up the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division table after a stop-start opening to the campaign.

Marshall said: “Our start to the season is getting better.

“We are miles behind on our games, but we have a lot of games coming up in October which will allow us to catch-up.

“We will have a true position in the league by the end of October.

“We’ve had a good week. Two wins and a draw which was probably the best performance I have seen from nine men.

“I was amazed they did it and we could have won. The lads were brilliant.

“They all rolled their sleeves up. It showed me a lot about what we are capable of.

“That’s the key thing because I hadn’t seen that before the Retford game. Now I know what they have got and I know what to expect week-in-week-out.”

Pickering now play host to Albion Sports tonight and Marshall added: “It is about keeping the momentum going now because we’re three unbeaten.

“There is a lot of lads come from Taddy and the first few weeks of the season have been about bedding them in with the lads who were already here.”
