Parkgate manager Steve Adams is still looking for new players

Steve Adams is continuing his search for new blood at Parkgate after a series of arrivals and departures.

Six players – Scott Lowe, Olly Graham, Gary Hibbert, Reece Wesley, Richard Wesley and Lee Jordan – left Roundwood last week and Adams responded with a string of new faces.

Louis Penty, Rikki Paylor, Chris Simpkins, Mick Jones and Dan Vinten are just some of their latest recruits and Adams admits that he hasn’t finished there.

He said: “Our form has certainly dipped in the last three or four weeks.

“We are in the process of changing personnel so we know we’re going to need time.

“The chairman is patient about it, he knows we’re trying to turn it around and get younger and local players in with a zest for the club.

“That’s instead of a high turnover from players coming in and then moving on.

“Hopefully we’ll have a few additions in the next couple of weeks and that may help us.

“We know we haven’t got the biggest budget when compared to other teams so we have to keep looking for local talent.”

Parkgate have been unable to continue their perfect start to the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division season which saw them win their first three matches.

The Rotherham-based side travel to Armthorpe Welfare this evening and Adams added: “We have had a good start, but we have to maintain it and pick up a little bit and start consolidating.

“It is going to be difficult after Saturday to pick the players up for Tuesday, but that’s what we’re here for.

“We’ll tweak things around a little bit. There was a couple of players missing on Saturday so hopefully we’ll be alright for Tuesday.”
