Former Garforth Town player Darren Kelly has been named as the new manager of FC Halifax Town.
The appointment ends the two-week search for Neil Aspin’s successor at the Shay.
Kelly was the manager of Oldham Athletic until he was sacked around the same time as Aspin departed from the Shay.
Kelly, who is joined by assistant Jim Harvey, the former Stalybridge boss, played under Halifax youth team boss Steve Nichol at Garforth.
Kelly said: “I am delighted to be joining such an historic club.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for me and I am excited about the challenge we have ahead of us.”
Halifax were inundated with applications for the vacancy and chairman David Bosomworth added: “We are delighted to welcome both Darren and Jim to the football club. They are both highly regarded within the game and we are confident they have the drive and ambition to take this club forward.”
