‘Let me entertain you’ would be a fitting song for Eccleshill United to walk out to at their Mitton Group Stadium.
No other ground in Toolstation NCEL Division One has seen as many goals scored since the start of the season.
Forty-seven is the precise figure so their ever-improving crowds are getting guaranteed entertainment. Eccleshill have scored 30, but conceded 17.
Eccleshill chief Mark Greaves said: “At the moment we’re having to score four goals to make sure we win.
“If we get three, we’re not going to win. We have had some good performances though like Grimsby when we got nine and then there was Winterton.
“In some games we have played 3-5-2 and we do invite pressure onto us, but we do know going forward we have some very good footballers.
“But, we are a young side and we are learning.”
An example of a typical Eccleshill game was on Wednesday night in the 4-3 victory over Hall Road Rangers.
Eccleshill led twice before Hall Road somehow went in front. An equaliser ten minutes restored parity and then Luke Harrop won it for Eccleshill in the dying seconds.
Greaves added: “I’d sum it up as very relieved.
“We got the three points, but we weren’t happy with the performance and how we got the three points.
“We went 1-0 up and were controlling the game, but to give a goal away 30 seconds before half-time was throwing a goal away.
“We went 2-1 up, but then we did get it again. We should have gone on from 2-1 up and won the game comfortably so we need to learn from it.
“To be fair, we kept going and won it.”
