Paul Stansfield believes Knaresborough Town already have a top striker in their ranks.

The comments were made after the goal-less draw with Penistone Church on Tuesday night.

Eight goals have been scored at Manse Lane in home matches, but the area is not a cause of cause for Stansfield.

He told Non League Yorkshire: “I think we have got one.

“I think Blaine Hobson will get 20 goals, it is just that he’s coming back to fitness.

“He has been banned for six months due to getting banned on a Sunday and not been able to play for us.

“When he gets fit, he is a really good footballer. He is an asset and we have also signed Gaz Collier from Riccall and he’ll get goals.

“Brad Walker has got six so he should be aiming for 20 and he doesn’t play every minute of every game because he’s only 19.

“The goals will start flowing. We are getting goals from midfield as well.

“If you want to get in the play-offs you have to have a 20 goal a season man, but we have to give our strikers time.”

Stansfield, who took charge at the beginning of pre-season after the shock resignation of Brian Davey, has guided to eighth in the table after 12 games.

He added: “I think ten games is a marker and then 20 games is.

“If you are near two points a game then you are setting yourself up for a decent season.

“I’m pleased with how it is going and we’re starting to see what we want.

“The players are listening and it is starting to come together.

“We’re still going to have ups and downs, but at the moment we’re doing alright.”
