Dave Ricardo admits Selby Town need to start showing some consistency if they want achieve anything this season.
September was a patchy month as Selby beat Grimsby and Glasshoughton, but came unstuck against Teversal and Hull United and then drew with Penistone and Eccleshill.
Selby started October by winning at Westella VIP in the FA Vase and Ricardo wants his side to improve and quickly.
“It was important for the club, the players and the managerial team to win on Saturday,” Ricardo told Non League Yorkshire.
“It was vital. We aren’t going to win the league, but we’re still got aspirations of finishing as high as we can.
“If we put a run together then there is no reason why we can’t finish in a play-offs position.
“However, we need to start that run now. Our form has up and down.
“We have been playing well, but we haven’t been taking our chances.
“We drew against Penistone, a game we should have won. We got beat by Teversal when we should have won. Eccleshill was the same.
“These points add up. But, when you look at the league there is probably only Mansfield that will possibly walk away with it.
“Other managers will confirm this, but all other teams are beatable on their day.”
Ricardo has been busy recruiting players for his squad in the past week. Selby have signed former York City youth team player Josh Bowkett, Hull United defender Lewis Rowbottom, North Ferriby youngster Levi Mitchell and former Brigg player Will Peers
The quartet boost his squad for a daunting month.
Ricardo added: “If you look at the next ten league fixtures, seven of them are all against teams above us.
“We have Mansfield on Saturday and then we have the likes of Yorkshire Amateur, Shirebrook, all hard teams.
“If we can 17 or 20 points in the next ten games then it will set us on a massive platform for the second half of the season.”
