Paul Lines has seen signs of improvement from Nostell Miners Welfare ahead of the local derby with Pontefract Collieries on a rare Friday night fixture.

Nostell halted a run of six consecutive Toolstation NCEL Premier Division defeats by drawing at Parkgate on Saturday and now Lines wants to go one better tomorrow night.

Lines told Non League Yorkshire: “We played well on Saturday and on reflection if we had taken our chances we could have scored three or four.

“We looked a lot more solid so I’m a lot happier with what has been happening.

“But we have another must-win game on Friday night. I want to build a bit of consistency.

“We stopped the rot last week and I want to build on that.”

Nostell have dropped the admission price to £4 and £2 for concessions for the visit of Nick Handley’s side.

Under 16s, who are accompanied by an adult, go free and also receive a free hot dog and soft drink.

Lines is fully in support of the move to Friday night and he hopes that the England’s dead rubber with Estonia at Wembley won’t put people off coming to Nostell.

He added: “We have moved it to Friday because it a local derby and we to get more through the gate.

“I think it is a good idea because we should get more people watching.

“Some people will go to other games on Saturday so we hope to grab some of those who go elsewhere.

“We do have to compete with the England game, but they have already qualified so I’m hoping some people will think ‘it is done and dusted, we’ll go to Nostell’.”
