Graham Nicholas and Garforth Town are appealing against Josh Moore’s red card at Whickham

Garforth Town have appealed against the controversial red card shown to Josh Moore in the FA Vase victory at Whickham.

Moore was dismissed for allegedly elbowing a Whickham defender.

Video replays of the incident have since revealed that there was little contact if any and the official has since changed his mind so Garforth are hoping to get it overturned.

The referee stands by his decision to dismiss Danny Harris later in the game.

Miners boss Graham Nicholas said: “I said to the referee after the game: ‘are you happy to watch the video highlights’?

“I’m pleased that he has emailed the FA to look into withdrawing his red card to Josh Moore. It is really good of him to come out and say that.

“We have put in an appeal and we have the referee’s support. The lad has gone down and it is clear he was play-acting.

“I spoke to a few people in football about the Danny Harris red card and they say it is correct so I respect their view. We will go along with that.”

Garforth visit Maltby Main tomorrow afternoon – hoping to extend their unbeaten run in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division to four games.

Nicholas added: “We have a fantastic squad and the lads are getting on – on and off the pitch.

“That’s something I have always wanted. I’ve always been full of admiration for Athersley Rec with their group of lads.

“They went out drinking together, socialised together and I want that togetherness.

“This year I have got that. I think our togetherness is one of the main reasons why we are getting results.”
