Craig Elliott hopes Shaw Lane Aquaforce can be the first team to beat Stafford

Shaw Lane Aquaforce hope to be the first team to land a knockout blow on leaders Stafford Rangers tomorrow.

Former Conference side Stafford are eight points clear at the Evo Stik Division One South table and have won nine and drawn one of their ten games.

Shaw Lane are third and could close the gap to seven points.

Craig Elliott said: “I see them as a team that is playing really well and haven’t been beaten yet.

“We’re in this league to play in games like this and it will be great to be the first team to beat them this season.

“It is a big opportunity for us. It is also a perfect opportunity to see how close we are to being a serious team in this league.

“There’s going to be a great atmosphere because Stafford a big club with a big fan-base.”

Shaw Lane are yet to lose at home, but Elliott’s men have unable to establish a winning run together and he said: “We have let ourselves down by not getting any consistency.

“We haven’t won a game ugly yet. We have either blown teams away or lost or drawn.

“We need to find that consistency by winning games a few games when not playing well.

“One week we have huffed and puffed, looked world-beaters one week and then on another week looked average.”

Shaw Lane could have some new signings in their squad tomorrow.

Captain Matt Thornhill has also turned the chance of moving to Basford United.
