Glasshoughton Welfare slipped to their third consecutive Toolstation NCEL Division One defeat when they lost to 3-2 at Leeds Road to high flying Bottesford Town.

Welfare manager Mick Norbury was unable to attend the game due to family reasons so coach and former Pontefract Collieries manager Roly Lanes was in charge of the side.

Nathan Perks made a second debut for the club having signed from Garforth Town and there was also a debut for Reuben Pearse, recently signed from Selby Town.

Bottesford took the lead on five minutesin an attack down the Welfare left. A cross was lofted towards the far post and when headed back across goal Terry Barwick had the easy job of nodding the hosts first goal in.

Welfare came back and after good work by Ashley Scothern on the right Danny Cawley hit a shot just wide.

Town then had good chances with Barwick and Wayne Graves hitting shots over the bar and Danny Gibbons hit one just wide.

The visitors were made to pay for their misses on thirty four minutes when Perks opened his new account for Welfare. A great ball over the defence from Phil Lindley found the new striker in space and he lobbed keeper Leigh Herrick as the keeper closed him down.

Five minutes later he got his second when he was played in by Scothern. Perks held off a challenge by a defender before slipping the ball under Herrick

Just before the break welfare were lucky not to concede a second goal with captain Jimmy Williams twice clearing off the goal line as the visitors attacked strongly.

Welfare opened strongly for the second half and Perks just failed to latch onto a pass from Scothern.

The visitors equalised on fifty nine minutes when Barwick slotted a penalty home after Regan Fish was alleged to have fouled a Bottesford player in the penalty area.

Graves had a great chance to win it for Bottesford a couple of minutes later but welfare keeper Jordan Watson made a great block. Perks then headed just over from a cross by Ryan Smith.

The winning goal came after seventy five minutes when Watson came for a cross from the right but failed to get near the ball and Martin Pembleton nipped in to head over the keeper and into the net

Just before the end Graves had another chance to seal it for Town but once again he shot over.
