High-flying Brighouse Town pulled off an exceptional 3-1 victory at Spennymoor Town to move into the Evo Stik Division One North play-offs.
Brighouse caught Spennymoor cold with a goal inside the opening 120 seconds. A defensive mistake by Spennymoor led to Ryan Hall firing home a low strike.
The lead was quickly cancelled out as Kallum Griffiths deceived goalkeeper Paul Hagreen with a cross.
Brighouse went onto expose further frailties in Spennymoor’s defence when Hall tore them apart before passing Ernest Boafo, who sent the ball into the net past goalkeeper Dan Lowson.
The visitors increased their lead right at the start of the second half. The home side’s defence once again stood still as Dan Illingworth’s long throw was headed home by Boafo.
Brighouse had at least two chances to kill the home side off, but Spennymoor got lucky on both occasions.
Brighouse Town: Hagreen, Field, Fisher, Wilson, Illingworth, Hewitt, Hall, Thornton, Facey, Boafo, Haigh. Subs: Hollingworth, Stead, Pollard, Henry, Allison
