Wayne Benn is seeing every side to high-flying Hemsworth Miners Welfare’s game at the moment.

Second-placed Hemsworth are collecting three points in spectacular fashion and then winning ‘ugly’ in other matches.

The Toolstation NCEL Division One table looks good for Hemsworth and Benn said: “It can always be better because you would like to be in Mansfield’s position.

“To have had only one defeat in 13 games, which was against a Mansfield team that are strong, and be second I’m relatively pleased.

“Up until the last five games, I think we have played average when considering our capabilities.

“We have been getting wins by playing in snatches, but we have really started to kick on.

“The new players have settled in and we are getting a settled side. The performance levels have gone up.

“We’re in good form, but it is far too early to call anything.

“It is pointless getting carried away and focussing on league tables until everyone plays each other.

“We still have more to give and better performances to come for sure, but what I’m liking about us is that we’re solid and look organised.

“We’re doing the horrible stuff and the nasty stuff that we have not always done in the past.

“We will pass and play with the best of them, but sometimes winning ugly has been an issue and we have done that on a couple of occasions recently.”

Hemsworth are preparing a humdinger of a clash with AFC Emley in Fitzwilliam tomorrow.

The promotion rivals are set to serve up a classic battle and Benn added: “Hopefully it will be well-attended and I think you will see a tight game.

“Generally they are well contested because it is a local derby.

“I’m sure it will be fast and furious and I’m sure there will be a few tackles flying in.

“We always focus on ourselves and we know what Emley are about and they know what we’re about so there’ll be no surprises.

“It will be who performs on the day, but I have full confidence in my lads.”
