Chris Hilton did not get the win he wanted after Stocksbridge Park Steels needed Rory Coleman’s late equaliser to rescue a 1-1 draw with bottom of the league Tividale at Bracken Moor.
The Stocksbridge chief had identified the Evo Stik Division One South clash as a “must-win” following three consecutive league defeats.
However, the afternoon did not go to plan as Tividale took an early lead. Mark Danks stunned the home crowd with a superb 30-yard strike to put the visitors ahead.
As the game wore on, Tividale looked increasingly likely to record their first away win of the season as the Steels struggled to stamp any kind of authority on the game.
That was until Coleman’s intervention with a brilliant free curling free kick.
Stocksbridge Park Steels: D Reay, Meade, Poulton, Laight, McFadyen, Biggins, Coleman, Fox, Ruthven, Critchlow, Gregory.
