Graham Nicholas says Garforth Town have been left “out of pocket” after Josh Moore’s red card appeal was rejected

Graham Nicholas claims Garforth Town have been left “out of pocket” after their appeal over the Josh Moore red card was rejected.

Garforth attempted to get the controversial red card shown to Moore in the FA Vase overturned after the referee told Nicholas that would contact the FA to ‘change his mind’ over the decision.

However, the West Riding County FA watched the video and turned down the appeal and it has since been revealed that the official did do as is believed promised.

Nicholas told Non League Yorkshire: “It is disappointing because I spoke to the referee and he said ‘put an appeal in’ and he told me he would write an email to the FA saying he would be happy to withdraw the red card.

“The FA said that that wasn’t the case and he didn’t speak to anyone which I find disappointing.

“Once he said he would withdraw it, we obviously put in an appeal and it has cost the club £50 and Josh Moore has got a three-match ban.

“We wouldn’t have put the appeal in if the referee hadn’t said he would withdraw so the club has been left out of pocket.

“Although, the video evidence, which I know was inconclusive, showed that Josh Moore never touched him so how can you justify it?

“Now I know we can’t appeal it again, but I cannot understand why (the appeals board) they have gone  on the referee’s report and the linesman’s flag (on the video) to justify their decision to turn the appeal.

“The evidence is clear.”
