Garforth Town manager Graham Nicholas has hailed the form of star striker Mark Simpson.
The young forward has been in red hot form since the start of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division season and is Garforth’s top goal-scorer with 13 goals.
Simpson also showed that he is lethal in a casino last week by winning Non League Yorkshire’s first ever charity poker tournament.
Nicholas told Non League Yorkshire: “He’s been absolutely superb.
“He is working ever so hard and he’s more than a goal-scorer because he assists. He’s a team-player.
“He has a fantastic attitude and he’s a very loyal person. He’s happy to stay having rejected three approaches.
“He’ll continue to do so because he’s happy here and he wants to work with me.”
Garforth recovered from the shock thrashing at Clipstone to edge past Yorkshire Amateur in the West Riding County Cup on Tuesday night.
The Ammers led 2-1 at half-time, but Garforth turned the deficit around to win 4-3.
Nicholas added: “It was a game of two halves.
“We started really well in the first half and scored the first goal before they got back into it with two set-pieces.
“We came out flying in the second half and we knew we had the quality.
“On Saturday we were disorganised and didn’t play as a team. We have to learn from that and certainly my teams shouldn’t be getting beat 5-0.
“We are more organised and better than that. We embarrassed ourselves, but it was a great response on Tuesday.
“We trained on Monday and worked on a few things and then put it right against Yorkshire Amateur.”
