Ash Flynn scored twice for AFC Emley in the 3-1 win at Yorkshire Amateur

AFC Emley took their chances to win 3-1 at Yorkshire Amateur and record their third straight victory.

Emley are now only one point off the Toolstation NCEL Division One play-offs so Darren Hepworth’s scenic route is currently looking picturesque.

Emley’s Adam Lawlor was busier of the two goalkeepers, but Ash Flynn (2) and Alex Hallam converted their opportunities after Tom Rose had given the home side an early lead.

The former Emley player had got round Lawlor for the opener after 22 minutes, but the Ammers were the orchestrators of their own downfall as they were still celebrating when Emley equalised 60 seconds later.

The Ammers were asleep as Ruben Jerome’s deflected strike dropped to Hallam who coolly slotted the ball past Surwara Bojang.

Emley were in front within five minutes. Robbie Graham sent a superb whipped cross into the penalty area from the right and the unmarked Flynn headed home.

Flynn moved within three goals of his 42-tally from the 2012-13 season with Emley’s third on the hour mark.

A rare mistake from Bojang put the striker one-on-one with the Ammers goalkeeper. Flynn held his nerve to finish neatly into the bottom corner.

Although the Ammers did finish the stronger team, Lawlor kept them at bay and prevented a comeback from the Leeds-based side.

Craig Heard, his brother Carl and Harrison Blakey all came close, but Lawlor was equal to their efforts.
