Star striker Aaron Moxam has been named as the new captain of Pontefract Collieries as Nigel Danby has left the club.

Moxam was the skipper for the first time during his match-winning display against Rainworth when he hit a hat-trick in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division clash.

Strike-partner Liam Radford is the new vice-captain.

Danby, who was also Nick Handley’s assistant manager alongside Craig Rouse, left following the 5-2 defeat to Retford United last Wednesday.

The former Goole and Harrogate Railway manager had been a regular in the Pontefract defence for a few years and was a key part of the team that won promotion out of Division One last season.
