Garforth Town ideally want their new manager in place on Wednesday to ensure he has time to sign new players for the visit of Parkgate on Saturday.
The search for Graham Nicholas’ immediate successor is reaching its climax with the deadline for applications being tonight (Monday).
Interviews have already started and more are scheduled to take place over the next 48 hours. The Miners have received almost 20 applications for the vacant post.
The manager’s position at Garforth has always been seen as an attractive role because of the facilities and its close proximity to the motorway.
Although Garforth want to install a permanent manager, the club are open to a ‘caretaker’ appointment to get them through the next few weeks if need be.
Whoever is given the nod by the club’s two owners has to instigate an immediate influx of players to Wheatley Park as five players have already followed Nicholas to Ossett Town.
Mark Simpson, Simon Rodgers, Josh Moore, Luke Mangham and Ross Shelton said their farewells after the FA Vase victory over Hebburn Town on Saturday.
It is possible that a few more may follow.
