Adrian Costello has hit the ground running in his search for new players after being appointed as Garforth Town’s new manager.

His first task is to ensure Garforth have a side to fulfil the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division clash with Parkgate at Wheatley Park on Saturday.

He also has to make sure that he has players that eligible to play Armthorpe Welfare in the West Riding County Cup on Tuesday.

Garforth have already lost at least five players since the departure of previous manager Graham Nicholas to Ossett Town.

Speaking for the first time since his appointment to Non League Yorkshire, Hull-based Costello said: “You can imagine what today has been like.

“I have been on the phone all day and the biggest problem has been making sure the players who we bring in for Saturday can play in the County Cup on Tuesday.

“We are down on numbers, but the players we do have are quality players.

“We need a few additions to bolster the squad to see us through.

“We will have a team and it will be competitive.”

Costello, who was assistant to Steve Richards at Hall Road Rangers in 2007, was handed the job after impressing at his interview last night (Tuesday).

In the past, the A-license coach has lived in and coached in Abu Dhahi, alongside working at Scunthorpe United and Lincoln City’s academies. He currently works as a coach at York City’s academy.

He added: “The first few fixtures are going to be difficult as you going to have eight players and the new signings playing together for the first time.

“They are also going to be playing a system that I want to play.

“What I do what to say is that I want togetherness.

“It is about building a team that will win together and lose together. It is not going to be about individuals.”
