Some of the big score-lines in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League are doing more damage than good, according to Ryan Hindley.
The Hallam manager cites some of huge defeats that certain Division One clubs have consistently been on the receiving end of for at least two seasons.
He said: “The league at the minute is a bit of a mockery in terms of results.
“I’m not ashamed to say that it is embarrassing. It is not just this season because it has been going on for a while.
“People need to look at and say as clubs ‘we don’t want to be in this league’. There’s no shame in it.
“Leagues are decided by budgets and I have a zero budget, but unless you can get the players, this league can kill you.
“Some of these clubs are getting murdered week-in-week-out. I’m not being derogatory to these clubs because they can only work with what they have got.
“How can it be good for the committees at these clubs who work their socks offs?
“You have to feel for some of them and I am sure some of them have players not turning up because of results.
“They’re probably having to put under 18s in and it can scare some of them for life unfortunately.”
Hindley is unable to say too much about the possible points deduction for Hull United after they seemingly playing Nicky McNamara in their recent win at Hallam.
McNamara actually scored in the 2-0 win, but it has since been revealed that he was suspended for the game.
Hindley said: “It is not for me to say as it is in the hands of the league.
“I’m more than happy to replay the game because I don’t think we have done anything wrong.
“A suspended players seems to have played in the game and scored, but I will leave it to the league.”
Hallam host Eccleshill United tomorrow.
At last somebody has publicly said what some of us hardened non-league followers totally agree with. It’s been likened round our area as nothing more than Sunday morning Pub football, and your paying to watch!
Totally agree, its falsely inflating goals for and against columns, individual scoring feats and generally all round embarrasment. Not a problem putting young ones in if they’re good enough, but quite obviously some of them in these struggling teams are not ready yet and it can set them back. Don’t turn league one into a pub league! Keep high standards.
