Kulwinder Sandhu hopes that the capture of Jordan Hendrie will encourage more players to drop down levels to play for Albion Sports in the future.
The right-back, son of Bradford City legend John Hendrie, made his debut on Wednesday night in the 4-3 victory over Pontefract Collieries at Throstle Nest.
Hendrie belongs to National League Premier side Guiseley and recently had a brief spell with Ossett Albion.
Sandhu admits that he is pleased to see a player from a higher league sign for his club and wants it to become a common occurrence.
“I don’t know what the perception of Albion Sports is out there, but when you get the calibre of a player who is the son of John Hendrie then it can only enhance Albion’s reputation,” Sandhu told Non League Yorkshire.
“I hope he enjoys it here and if he does he is only going to go back to Guiseley and say good things.
“It has been difficult to attract players from higher up because we’ve started at the bottom tier on the Non League ladder – especially when they are used to picking up higher wages.
“We don’t pay a great deal and we try and look after players in a different way here.
“We have a good social side and we’re a good family club.”
Hendrie knows three of Albion’s current players – Jack Bentley, Connor Erangey and Lewis Morgan – from his time at Bradford City’s academy.
After leaving Valley Parade, he played for Guiseley’s academy and was given a squad number at the start of the season at Nethermoor.
There is no time-limit to his transfer to Albion.
Sandhu added: “The manager of Guiseley Mark Bower is a very good friend of mine.
“About five weeks I asked him if he could help him out and he mentioned that Jordan was a squad member and if I could tempt him to come, he would help me out.
“I spoke to his father John and at the time a couple of clubs from the Evo Stik League were showing interest.
“He went to Ossett, but his father rang me on Tuesday and told me that the lad just wants game-time and could we accommodate him?
“It is great of Mark Bower to let him come to us and I hope our relationship with him continues.”
