Adrian Costello was denied his Garforth Town managerial debut after heavy rain left the Wheatley Park pitch waterlogged.

This meant the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division clash with Parkgate was postponed.

Costello was named as the new Garforth chief on Wednesday after a week-long search and had spent the last few days ensuring that he had a “competitive side” for the game.

Because five players instantly left with Graham Nicholas for Ossett Town, Garforth were short on numbers until Costello’s appointment.

Four other games in the NCEL fell to the weather. Knaresborough Town had their trip Grimethorpe to play Worsbrough postponed, while Albion Sports’ home clash with Armthorpe Welfare and Barton’s game with Rainworth were beaten by the rain.

In the Evo Stik Division One North, rain prevented Farsley Celtic’s trip to Kendal Town.
