Shaw Lane Aquaforce closed the gap on Evo Stik Division One South leaders Stafford Rangers to three points after winning 5-3 at Kidsgrove Athletic.

Aquaforce cruised the victory in Stoke and were soon buoyed by the news that Stafford could only draw with Basford United.

The only downside for Shaw Lane was a few injuries to key players were collected in the match.

Like in matches since the end of September, Shaw Lane flew out of the blocks as Adam Priestley fired them ahead.

Lee Bennett was then given a glorious close range chance and he didn’t waste it.

By half-time, Shaw Lane were three goals to the good as Gavin Allott had scored from the penalty spot.

Kidsgrove reduced the deficit in the early stages of the second half before defender Oscar Radford found the net for the second time in a week.

An own goal gave Aquaforce their fifth of the afternoon. Kidsgrove scored two more consolation goals in the last few minutes.
