Pontefract Collieries are advertising for a new manager after Nick Handley’s shock departure on Wednesday night.
Handley was relieved of his duties two hours before he was due to take charge of a training session – a decision that has sent shockwaves throughout the Non League community.
It remains unclear who is in temporary charge of the visit of Garforth Town on Saturday if the match survives the heavy rain that is forecast.
Handley’s exit is the opening gambit by an un-named chairman who has taken control of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division side.
The Colls recently advertised for a chairman and someone, who has the “right qualities to take the club forward” and provide “financial stability” has got the job. His name is expected to be released in the next seven days.
He wants to appoint his own management team which has caused the club to part company with Handley and his assistants Craig Rouse and Simon Houghton.
The new chairman will be conducting interviews over the next two weeks to decide who succeed Handley.
Interested parties are asked to send their applications to the secretary at trevor@pontecolls.co.uk.
