Star man Rob Bordman scored the incredible injury-time winner as Ossett Albion became the first team to win at Glossop North End this season.

Albion ended promotion-chasing Glossop’s formidable home record with a surprise 3-2 victory.

Albion had appeared to throw away the three points after leading 2-0 at one point until Glossop levelled with two goals in 60 seconds late on.

Such a dramatic game wasn’t on the cards until Albion went ahead on the stroke of half-time. Albion were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box when perhaps a penalty would have been more appropriate the offence seemingly being just inside the box. To free kick specialist Rob Bordman however it made no difference. His well place effort nestling in the far corner of the net with the ‘keeper well and truly beaten.

Albion started well in the second half and doubled their lead on 55 minutes when scorer turned provider as Bordman found Nicky Matthews in space on the edge of the box and he did not disappoint, coolly slotting past the advancing keeper.

Albion continued to play well but a ‘mad minute’ almost cost them the well earned victory. Two goals from Glossop in less than 60 seconds brought the scores level and it looked as though Albion’s heads would go down and the hosts became favourites to take the spoils. Albion however are made of much sterner stuff nowadays and continued to press for the winner.

Substitutes Connor Bower and Talent Ndlovu both went close and Rob Bordman also forced an excellent save from the ‘keeper.

As the game went into injury time looking as though Glossop had saved their undefeated home record until a brilliant individual effort from Rob Bordman earned Albion a well deserved but hard fought three points. He cut in from the right beating two men in the box before smashing the ball into the roof of the net to the delight of the visiting supporters.

Ossett Albion: Souter, Dawson, Hardaker, Claisse, Riley, South, Brunt (Bower), Paylor, Bordman, Matthews, Muller (Green) (Ndlovu). Subs unused: Nicholson, Thompson.
