Cameron Lyn’s late goal earned Graham Nicholas his first Evo Stik Division One North point as manager of Ossett Town after the 1-1 draw with Brighouse Town.

In terrible conditions, Brighouse were the better side in the first half and created numerous openings.

Former Albion Sports striker Danny Facey went close minutes before he was brought down in the penalty area. Ernest Boafo stepped up and fired Paul Quinn’s men ahead.

Brighouse continued to enjoy the better share of the chances as the game entered the second half. Ryan Hall had a header turned onto the crossbar by goalkeeper Tom Morgan and Ben Thornton went close with another opportunity.

Nicholas took the brave decision to change his side’s formation and the move paid off.

On came Mitch Hamilton, Sam Akeroyd and Mark Simpson and it was the latter who set up the equaliser.

Simpson supplied the assist for Lyn and he went onto to almost score a dramatic winner for his new side at the death.

The young forward went through one-on-one with Brighouse goalkeeper Paul Hagreen, but it was his former Garforth team-mate who won the battle with a brilliant save.
