Ossett Albion moved closer to the Evo Stik Division One North by earning a fourth win on the bounce with a comfortable 3-1 win away at Kendal Town.

Albion had most of the early possession and went close on a couple of occasions and restricted Kendal to a few long-range efforts, which were comfortably dealt with by the Albion goalkeeper Brett Souter.

Albion eventually took the lead on 28 minutes when defender James Riley scored his first ever Albion goal. He rose above everyone at the far post to head in Rob Bordman’s inch perfect corner. Albion’s lead however lasted only a minute when Tom Kilifin caught their defence napping to slot in from close range.

Despite this setback, Albion continued to press and only four top class saves by Kendal goalkeeper Rick Whiteside prevented them taking the lead again.

The second half continued in a similar vein and again Whiteside was forced into action on a number of occasions. When Kendal did go forward their threat was well dealt with by the Albion defence.

Albion’s superiority was rewarded on 72 minutes when Rob Bordman converted a cross from new boy Luke Porritt to restore their lead. Kendal were relying on the long ball over the top which was easily dealt with by the Albion defenders.

Albion secured victory in the 90th minute when George Green was upended in the box and up stepped Bordman to score his second from the penalty spot.
