Simon Lenighan has linked-up with his old Leeds United academy director Neil Redfearn at Rotherham United.
Lenighan was the Leeds youth team captain under Redfearn. He was released by the Elland Road club 18 month ago and has since played for Harrogate Town, Alfreton Town and Frickley Athletic.
The midfielder was on non-contract terms at Frickley and he was recently allowed to go on trial with the Championship club.
Redfearn told Rotherham’s website: “He is someone I have kept an eye on, even before I took the Rotherham job, and I knew if I got back in I would have a look at him.
“He falls into the category of these top young players that I had at Leeds United and he could be a real steal for us.”
