Players and club officials at Steps 5 to 7 have been reminded of betting regulations regarding competitions they are involved in.
The Non League Paper reported on the issue in this week’s edition after the Football Association issued a reminder to the clubs and players involved in competitions such as the FA Vase.
Steps 5 to 7 are not subject to the total betting ban that came into force last year – that only goes as far as Step 4 (The Evo Stik Leagues).
However, anyone involved at a Step 5 to 7 cannot place a bet, either directly or indirectly, on a match or competition they are involved or could influence. The using or passing of inside information for betting is also banned.
Jenni Kenndedy, the FA’s head of integrity, told the Non League Paper: “Whilst it may seem a novelty for players and officials at Step 5 to 7 to bet on their team when betting companies rarely offer the opportunity to do so, it remains a breach of FA rules and could lead to disciplinary proceedings being taken.”
