Ossett Town suffered their first Evo Stik Division One North under Graham Nicholas after losing 3-2 to Droylsden at Ingfield.
The wind caused havoc and despite conceding a late winner, Ossett can be pleased with their battling efforts as they drew themselves level at one point after falling 2-0 behind.
Droylsden’s lead was established with goals either side of the half-hour. Dominic Smith’s long range strike broke the deadlock before Carlos Edmondson-Rouse scored with a header.
Lively debutant Josh Moore reduced the deficit with a low drive on the stroke of half-time.
That proved good timing as David Brown, introduced at the interval for Mark Simpson, equalised within a minute of the second half starting.
Unfortunately it was not to be Ossett’s day as midfielder Ross Shelton turned a cross past his own goalkeeper Sam Leigh to gift Droylsden the points.
Ossett Town: Leigh, Hawksworth, Merris, Monfredi, Jeff (captain), Shelton, Simpson, Rupere, Moore, Mangham, Lyn. Subs: Rogers, Brown, Hamilton, Fogarty.
