Young Ben Rhodes made himself the hero by scoring the late winner for Stocksbridge Park Steels in the 2-1 win at Rugby Town.

The FA Trophy giant-killers are now unbeaten in nine matches in all competitions.

The Steels are playing with huge confidence and Chris Hilton’s men got off to the perfect start at Rugby.

Corey Gregory was the provider with a superb pass for midfielder Harrison Biggins to latch onto. Higgins was exquisitely lobbed the Rugby’s former Steels goalkeeper Sam Andrew from outside the penalty area.

The lead lasted only six minutes as Chris Tullin equalised for Rugby with a header from a corner.

Andrew denied his old side on the stroke of half-time by saving Adam Hinchliffe’s header from point blank range.

Stocksbridge’s current stopper David Reay also did his bit in the second half as he made a good save from Robbie Parker.

The visitors had to wait until the final throes to steal all three points – something which was gifted to them by Rugby defender Mason Rowley. His poor back-pass was intercepted by Rhodes and the winger went round Andrew and slid the the ball into the empty net.
